Commission based advertising from none other than search engine giant Google, were donated by Cruiz.com to Hope Centre, Ballymena Family and Addicts Support.

On this occasion, Sinn Fein Councillor Digney stepped in to listen to the concerns of the local charity and promised to use local press to help push forward some of the issues raised.   According to the organisation, Alcohol abuse remains one of the primary addictions in Ballymena.

Following previous similar support from DUP Councillor Nelson Cruiz.com is proving itself as a service for all in the community, regardless of the personal views or political opinions of its creator, Ballymena man Melvyn Crabbe.

The donation received from Cruiz.com will be used to purchase bottle caps, designed to help prevent drug rape through spiked drinks in night clubs.  Councillor Digney had her own horrific stories to tell and stated that she would do all she could to help the local charity.

The bottle caps are available from Ballymena Family and Addicts Support (Tel: 028 2563 2726) in a variety of colours and ‘pink’ was revealed to be the most popular for girls.  They push into the neck of bottles and help prevent drugs being dropped in unnoticed.

There was general agreement that those selling alcohol should be more willing to make the bottle caps available over the counter, but Councillor Digney was determined that manufacturers are the key in resolving the issue.
